In a turn of events that really kind of sucks for those keen on exclusivity, digital listening parties are becoming all the rage of late, letting everyone (whether they’re Joe Blow or Joe Strummer — were he still alive) listen to a new disc together.
Hypebot recently informed us of the impending launch of ChatWithTheBand, a new service that will let bands hold listening parties on Facebook. Check out the demo above. This move would certainly serve to further solidify Facebook’s growing dominance in the music promotion sphere — especially if the social networking site launches a music service this month, as rumored.
The Book of Faces aside, we’ve seen some pretty interesting digital listening parties of late — from Turntable.fm to YouTube to Google+, bands are getting innovative. What’s the coolest listening party you’ve attended?
