“Instagram for video” app Viddy is out with a brand new effects package that’s sure to get Snoop Dogg fans feeling hazy with glee.
Viddy launched this spring as a video-making app for the iPhone that lets users add music and effects to short, shareable vids. All you have to do is point and shoot your own 15-second video, add filters and tunes from an array of options, and share your finished work across your social networks.
Over the ensuing months, the service has had a lot of crossover with the music space; Panic! At the Disco used the app to crowdsource the video for their single, “Ready to Go,” and Incubus released a production package (music and effects that one can add to video) in conjunction with their latest record, If Not Now, When?
Snoop Dogg is the latest musician to embrace the service, releasing his very own production pack in celebration of the rapper’s #PuffPuffPassTuesdays tradition on Twitter (whereby he shares a new jam every Tuesday). The pack allows users to add a Snoop-inspired instrumental jam to any video, as well as a hazy, smoke-filled filter. Check out Snoops’ inaugural video above.
Snoop is proving himself to be a true early adopter when it comes to the web. In addition to being one of our O Music Awards nominees for Best Artist on Twitter, Snoop is also an active user of Google+, allows users to subscribe to his profile on Facebook and regularly hosts a room on Chill.com (one of our noms for Most Addictive Social Music Service).
