If you’re amped to see Wilco when they roll into your town this month, prepare to be positively electrified: Now you can be part of the band’s live show.
Wilco recently launched its “Wilco Fan Video Project,” an attempt to crowdsource fan footage of the towns in which they’re playing. Videos “may be projected behind the band during the show in your town,” the Vimeo page says. The band is currently preparing for the release of its upcoming album The Whole Love, which recently streamed on wilcoworld.net.
Wilco isn’t the first band to incorporate fan-made content into its live show. Famously, Arcade Fire teamed up with Google and music video director Chris Milk to create the HTML5 experiment, “The Wilderness Downtown,” which collected fan-spun drawings that were later incorporated into the live show. LCD Soundsystem also turned to the fans when, during its last spate of shows, it asked for footage of clouds for possible inclusion in those concerts.
Will you attempt to get in on the Wilco experience?
