If you were bummed to hear that R.E.M. is calling it a day, take heart: The band is releasing a super definitive greatest hits album — and it’s really flashy. In that, if you’re an epileptic, you might want to look away.
Adorning the cover of R.E.M., Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage, 1982 – 2011 — which drops on November 15 — will be the above animated GIF, a simple black and white affair that flashes the album title continuously. The album itself includes 40 songs from the band’s entire back catalog. You can pre-order it on Amazon right about now.
Bands are certainly getting creative with their album covers of late — at least those bands on the Warner Bros. label. Metal band Mastodon released its latest disc, The Hunter, with an augmented reality cover.
