Tom Morello Honored For Most Memorable Occupy Wall Street Performance

Remember how the O Music Awards are offbeat and outrageous? Well, get ready for an eleventh hour announcement: We are presenting a brand new honor today — to Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine and The Nightwatchman for Most Memorable Occupy Wall Street performance.

Nationwide protest Occupy Wall Street has been home to performances by a number of well-known and aspiring musicians — performances that have then gone viral thanks to the power of the web. In particular, we were struck by Morello’s rendition of “The Fabled City” in New York.

“The Occupy Wall Street movement has spread to over 1,300 cities and towns around the world,” said Morello. “I’ve visited and performed at a number of Occupied cities and this award is for all the courageous World Wide Rebels who are standing up to injustice across the globe.”

MTV’s Matt Pinfield will honor Morello’s contribution today during the O Music Award’s Dance Party Marathon, but you can check out Morello’s acceptance speech before the masses below:
