50 Cent’s Anti-Bullying Book “Playground” Drops Today

Posted November 1

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson was one of many musicians — including DEVO and Gabe Saporta — to show support for our Guinness World Record-breaking dance party to raise funds for anti-bullying charities last night. Now, the musician is out with his own tome on the subject, Playground.

Last week, 50 Cent took to the Today show to discuss the book, written with the help of co-writer Lizzie Akana. It’s a novel dealing with the subject of bullying — specifically through the eyes of a thug hoping to make right. The volume was inspired by 50 Cent’s life (he admits to being a bully in the past).

“I’m extremely proud of my first young adult book because it takes a look at the circumstances that surround our youth today,” 50 Cent told us. “I drew on my own personal experiences as an adolescent but was excited that the story took on its own life. I wish I had a book like this when I was growing up in order to gain some perspective. I have a teenage son, and it was important for me to deal with this issue for him and all teenagers.”

What do you think? Will you pick up Fiddy’s book?
