The Weeknd & Lady Gaga Release New Music Over The Holidaze

Posted December 27

Since the O Music Blog is run by one lowly writer (who was cast into the wilds of New England without sufficient Internet for the past few days), sometimes we miss music when it hits the web. Over the past few days, we were so busy lighting up menorahs and whatnot that we’re just now checking out The Weeknd’s third mixtape, Echoes of Silence, and Lady Gaga’s previously unreleased track, “Stuck on F*cking You.”

We’ll have more on O Music-nominated artist The Weeknd’s (a.k.a. Abel Tesfaye) most recent tape later on today (ohhh, review!), so go ahead and visit his site if you haven’t already downloaded the nine-track disc (produced by the super smooth Clams Casino).

Gaga’s track — an unreleased jam from Born This Way — dropped at midnight on Christmas. Unlike a lot of her dancier tracks, the song is pretty raw (as you can tell from the title) and was apparently recorded live in one take on the tour bus.

“We were all wasted on the bus making records. It is such a timecapsule of the spirit of our creativity,” Gaga said on Twitter before dropping the song via Soundcloud.

My first thought when listening to this alcohol-infused song was that I would love to hear what The Weeknd could do with a remix. It’s all about in-your-face-sex and whatnot, which seems right up Tesfaye’s alley.

The reclusive musician previously remixed “Marry The Night” for Lady Gaga’s Born This Way — The Remix album, which also features Goldfrapp, the Horrors, Wild Beasts, Twin Shadow, Royksopp, Foster the People and others.

So if you can hear me, Tesfaye, lost in a fog of praise for your more recent mixtape: How about a remix? You have time now, right?
