What Is The Most-Liked Instagram Snap Of All Time?

Posted January 5

He already has the most-viewed video on YouTube and a Twitter following that strikes fear into the hearts of anyone attempting to start a trending topic, and now he’s scored the mantle of most popular photo on Instagram. Yup, Justin Bieber, that kid with the hair, posted a pic to the photo-sharing service that scored more than 51,600 Likes, and, appropriately, it features some babies (baby, oh).

iPhone app Instagram recently released some rather impressive year in review stats for 2011, including the fact that the service now boasts 15 million accounts — that’s up from one million at this time last year. The service — which recently hired its eighth employee — also reports that 400 million snaps have been posted thus far, and that 60 photos are uploaded every second.

It’s no surprise that O Music Awards-nominated (for Best Artist With a Cameraphone) artist Justin Bieber snagged so many Likes for his pic; the artist has 525,581 followers on the service and racked up 26,523 Likes for a picture of a toilet wreathed in protective paper. (He lost our award, however, to Demi Lovato.)

Not all bands can share Bieber’s level of photo-sharing success (unless they, too, cash in their chips and become a teenage dream), but more and more artists are joining Instagram as a way to connect with fans and give them a backstage look at their lives — hence the existence of our Best Artist With a Cameraphone award category in the first place.

With 15 million users scrolling through their feeds with rapt interest, why not add your worth-a-thousand-words snap to the mix if you’re an artist looking for some love?
