Furthering his rep as a tech-savvy president (although his Google+ hangout was the source of much mockery), Barack Obama’s campaign has just put out its very own Spotify playlist. And, as expected, it’s full of jams about America, change and, er, staying together.
Music can tell you a lot about a person and their current state of mind, and — judging by Obama’s Spotify playlist, which includes “some song contributions” from the Prez — Obama is all about his relationship with the American people. And keeping that relationship intact.
Just take a look at the track listing below: “Love You I Do,” “You’ve Got The Love,” “You Are The Best Thing,” “The Best Thing About Me Is You” etc. If the president were a dude presenting some chick with a mixtape, it would be pretty easy to suss out his intentions: To profess his undying love. Or, you know, to bone.
Still, in addition to this mix of straight-up love jams, there are also a handful of tunes that have a bit more of an urgent edge: the Zac Brown Band’s “Keep Me In Mind” (“If ever you wanted me I’ll be your man/I’d be a fool to let you go with someone else”) and Al Green’s “Let’s Stay Together” (“Why, why some people break up/Then turn around and make up/I just can’t see/You’d never do that to me”).
Nope, this isn’t a playlist of Obama’s favorite tunes, it’s a carefully orchestrated campaign message — transmitted in the language of song. And that message is: I’m ready for another round.
Take a look at the full list below and let us know in the comments: What tunes do you think other presidential hopefuls would include in their playlists?
