The Flaming Lips Will Be Attempting To Break Jay-Z’s Record At The O Music Awards

Posted May 23

We’ve kept you in the tight, tight embrace of suspense for much too long — it’s time to announce who will be taking on the Guinness World Record for the Most Live Concerts in 24 Hours (Multiple City) during the third edition of the O Music Awards. Nope, it’s not Beyonce — it’s those maestros of madness, The Flaming Lips (who are also up for two O Music Awards).

This summer we’ll be taking off across the country in a fully tricked-out bus for a 24-hour, livestreamed adventure through the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll — this will be the world’s first 24-hour livestreamed awards show. We’ve enlisted the aid of The Lips to complete this endeavor. The band will be overseeing the festivities, as well as breaking a world record currently held by Jay-Z. Watch it all from any screen, from the comfort of your own cave.

The action kicks off in Memphis, Tennessee, and doesn’t stop until we reach New Orleans, Louisiana, 24 hours later. We’ll be stopping in eight cities total, where the band will play for fans and locals alike, as well as collaborate with myriad acts.

We’ll be revealing the rest of the lineup in the coming weeks, so keep it here for all new news. And don’t forget to vote for your favorite band/app/whatever at OMusicAwards.com.
