Take this as your official kick-in-the-a$$ reminder: The O Music Awards will be hitting the Web on June 27th at 7:30 p.m. EST, and we’re not stopping until June 28th, 24 hours later! Clear your calendars kids — nothing that’s transpiring on your average Wednesday/Thursday will be half as exciting as this mess.
Wednesday marks the third edition of the O Music Awards, Viacom’s new awards show dedicated to honoring the intersection between music and technology. In the past, we’ve celebrated music/tech innovators in awesome locales like Las Vegas and Los Angeles, peppering the proceedings with exciting happenings (like breaking the Guinness World Records Longest Team Dance Marathon and Longest Freestyle Rap). This time, however, we’re outdoing ourselves — hardcore.
The third O Music Awards comes in the form of a 24-hour, livestreamed roadtrip through the American South, the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll. We’ll be traveling in a tricked-out vintage tour bus appropriately named “Endeavor,” from which we’ll be doling out 24 awards — everything from “Must Follow Artist on Twitter” to “Best Music Hack” to “Digital Genius” — as well as attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the Most Live Concerts in 24 Hours (multiple city).
We’ve enlisted The Flaming Lips to help us with this endeavor, as well as a passel of performers that will play with/collaborate with the Lips along the way, including Neon Indian, Grimes, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, GIVERS and more!
