In The O Music Awards Control Room With Director Ivan Dudynsky, The Web’s Newest Viral Star

Posted July 23

With the O Music Awards staff slowly recovering from the Bubonic plague-esque illness that we all contracted while on the bus, we think it a good time to reflect on one of the most intriguing aspects of the O Music Awards: The man pulling the puppet strings throughout the live stream, director Ivan Dudynsky.

As you may recall (oh, misty-minded friends), the third O Music Awards went down on June 27-28 in the form of a 24-hour livestreamed roadtrip through the American South. We gave out a passel of awards and — with the help of The Flaming Lips — broke the Guinness World Record for the most live concerts in 24 hours (multiple cities).

The whole trip was documented online at OMusicAwards.com via three video players: one showing what was happening on the bus, one streaming opening shows in various cities, and one trained on the control room, where Dudynsky held (frantic) court.

Over the course of the show, Dudynsky became a favorite among viewers, who watched his frenzied antics with schadenfreude-dappled glee. Check out the video below for the highlights.
