It’s almost September, which — in this twisted corporate culture of ours — translates to “Almost The Holidays!” Better start freaking out about what to get the music fan who has everything. One idea? Well, Spotify will now be selling giftcards at Target, giving users access to $10, $30 or $60 worth of listening time. And — lucky readers — we have 10 $10 cards to give away.
Starting today, Target shoppers can pick up gift cards that equate to premium subscriptions to Spotify at all physical stores. $10 will net you one month of the service (which includes ad-free, cross-platform usage of the on-demand/radio-streaming subscription service), $30 will get you three months and $60 will keep you in tunes for six months.
We imagine that the cards’ presence at such a large, mainstream chain store will increase Spotify’s visibility and score the service even more users, growing out the service’s 4 million-strong paying userbase. Listen for one month or three, get hooked, come back for more — that’s the name of the game.
Spotify also has e-giftcards at present, a feature that was revoked for users in the U.S. last year and then restored.
If you’re not already a premium subscriber (or you are, but your time is running out), listen up: The O Music Awards has 10 $10 cards to give away to our readers. Here’s how you win big — head to our Facebook Page and Like and comment on this story. We will choose five times two of you as recipients of free tunes. It’s that easy. No go forth and Like and stuff.
