First, we had the “Cup Song” — a meme in which folks sang Lulu and the Lampshades‘ tune “You’re Gonna Miss Me” while stacking drinking receptacles. Now, there’s the much more pointy “Knife Song.” That jam — during which people expertly enact that iconic scene from Knife On The Water — just recently went viral.
The song, which was apparently written by musician Rusty Cage and uploaded to YouTube on year ago, is nursery-style deal — with a violent twist. While singing the below lyrics, the musician clutches a knife, stabbing the spaces between his fingers in time to the jam.
Oh, I have all my fingers, the knife goes chop chop chop
If I miss the spaces in between, my fingers will come off
And if I hit my fingers, the blood will soon come out
But all the same, I play this game, cause thats what its all about
Oh, CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP CHOP
Im picking up the speed
And If I hit my fingers then my hand will start to bleed
The song started to gain traction when 16-year-old Hanna Fylling Ellingseter from Norway uploaded a video to you YouTube the other day, garnering more than 350,000 views and spurring a series of spinoffs. Many are titled “Knife Song Fail,” so we encourage you to proceed with caution while investigating this trend.
What do you think? Most dangerous meme ever?
