Rumors about a music service from Twitter have been swirling for weeks now, and today, finally, that service is here. The company hit Good Morning America this am to unleash Twitter Music unto the world.
Twitter Music — which was created after the microblogging service acquired music platform We Are Hunted — is a web platform and iOS app that pulls in tunes from Spotify, Rdio and iTunes to show you what’s trending, as well serve up musical suggestions tailored to you.
To test it out, simply visit the Twitter Music site or download the app. Upon firing it up, you’ll be greeted with a selection of ways to drill down tunes: 1). Songs trending on Twitter, 2). Emerging talent that people are tweeting about, 3). Artists that you might like, 4). Tunes that people you’re following are tweeting, 5). Artists you follow.
When you click on a song, you can listen via the music services mentioned above. Songs come either in brief previews, or as full tracks, depending on whether or not you subscribe to a service.
The app is dropping today across the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
