Music subscription service Spotify got into the charts game this week with the launch of its new “Spotify Top Tracks” feature, which shows the most-played and most-shared songs on Spotify each week in participating countries around the world.
Spotify Charts is an embeddable feature available to all Web editors, allowing users to listen to top tracks directly within a blog post. Embedded charts will update each week with the most recent top tracks.
Play counts are also displayed for each song, showing how many times a jam has been listened to around the world since 2008.
Billboard currently corners the market on music charts — having just added YouTube into the fold — but this new feature should give bands and fans an idea of how popular songs are on Spotify, which boasts 24 million active users.
